5 Things You Should Not DIY for Your Wedding

Do-it-yourself has become such a vibe and trend in slashing your wedding budget. Saving costs where you can, which is incredibly important for your pocket and future marriage. You may have looked at the average cost of weddings locally, thinking and tempted that you can DIY the whole thing. However, there are some things that you should not DIY for your wedding.

1.Main Food

Have you ever catered for 100 of your closest family and friends? If you haven’t, keep in mind it is an incredible amount of work. You may think you have enough kitchen and storage space, but you will quickly realize otherwise as some food needs to be stored in the fridge and freezer.

2.Photography and Videography

We’ve known people to do this and be disappointed when the photos come back because the angles are wrong or some key shots are missed. You’ll thank us for this one! When you look back at your photos and video, you’ll be extremely happy to see all the beautiful memories displayed. If your friend happens to be a wedding photographer though, go for it and compensate them accordingly!

3.Transportation

Your wedding day must be as stress free as much as possible. After a full day of celebrating and dancing, the last thing you will want to do is drive yourself home. Slip into a getaway vehicle with your love and relax as your new journey begins.  FYI, the getaway vehicle can totally be your parent’s van and your dad driving you. You don’t HAVE to be thaaaat bougie haha. And if your guests are hopping on a shuttle bus to the same hotel you’re staying at, hop on to that bus at the end of the night to cheer the whole way to the hotel!

4.Florals

Florists are artists in themselves. Whether you want faux or real, floral arranging for your wedding day could be an extra headache that you do not need. Unless you have a wedding party member who does florals as their side gig, leave it to the professionals.

5.Coordinating

If your venue has a coordinator, that’s a great starting point – while you might enlist the help of friends who have experience in some of the wedding and event fields to save some money (and they give you this in lieu of a gift), keep in mind they will be working all day and may not get to enjoy themselves as a guest – this is where Fiona Lau Events comes in. We keep track of everything in the planning process so you can be sure that everything will run smoothly.

Your wedding day will be one of the most important days of you and your spouse’s life. Remember not to break the bank, keep DIY projects as stress free as possible so you can enjoy the beautiful day celebrating with your loved ones. And if you’re like Fiona and like to do DIY projects with the last-minute adrenaline pumping through you, well, at least you’re in good company!
