Engaged? The First 5 Steps

If you just got engaged over the holidays, you might be wondering where to start when it comes to wedding planning. Here are the first 5 things to start with!

First | Know Your Priorities

One of the first things to do together is to figure out your priorities – what’s important to you? Knowing your wedding priorities will allow you to focus on what’s key to the two of you! This will make your wedding unique. 🙂 It’ll also help you to stay on track and not be swayed by family, friends, or even vendors.

Second | Determine Your Wedding Budget

Before booking your vendors, come up with a budget! This will help you to not overspend. If there are any family that is helping financially, speak to them about what they are specifically contributing and when that will happen. Of course, changes can happen if you find a vendor you absolutely LOVE, but creating the budget beforehand will allow you the space to figure out where you can splurge and where to trim.

Third | Start to Create Your Guest List

Make an initial guest list. Who can you imagine with you, celebrating your big day? This will help give you an idea when you go to choose venues. Make sure you choose a venue that will have a big enough capacity for all the guests you are thinking of inviting! Alternatively, you could choose a venue with a smaller limit to help make your guest list more concise. It really depends on whether you want an intimate celebration or a big bash with all your extended friends and family!

Fourth | Gather Wedding Planning Inspiration

Pinterest is a wonderful tool for gathering wedding planning inspiration once you’re engaged! Or before, whatever floats your boat haha. Magazines are also a great way to find inspiration. Don’t be afraid to dream big; just remember to keep in mind your budget and your priorities! Be flexible with your ideas and leave room to brainstorm alternative designs that you’ll love. Fifth | Hire a Wedding Planner

Wedding planning can be both super fun and super crazy at the same time! Maybe you’ve just gotten engaged (congrats!) and you have just realized what a daunting task planning may be. There are so many things to think about and you’re starting to feel overwhelmed. Or maybe you’re busy all the time and don’t think you have the time to plan a wedding. Maybe you’re planning a wedding from far away or you’ve got only a short period of time to plan.
