5 Destination Wedding Location Ideas
Your wedding day doesn’t need to just be the one day. You can expand the wedding festivities by having a destination wedding! Why not turn your wedding into a mini holiday for you and your closest guests? Imagine bringing a close knit group of your immediate families, your best friends, and renting out a private estate or space. You can have a light welcome cocktail dinner, coupled with activities in the city or nature the day before, the wedding, and followed by a thank you brunch the morning after. Guests can explore around the scheduled activities to see what the city offers while you get prepped for the big day. Afterwards, jet off to another city to enjoy your honeymoon or continue spending quality time with the family! As a result, the possibilities are endless. Here are five locations you’re going to love!
1. Barcelona – Spain
First, we have the gorgeous Barcelona, Spain. If your wedding vibe is rustic nature lover, luxury villa, or a chic city rooftop, Barcelona is the place for you. The variety of stunning locations and activities for your guests to explore is endless which would make this a perfect destination wedding location for you. Uniquely, only one hour away from Barcelona is the breathtaking Marimutra Botanical Gardens. The beauty of the gardens will feel like you just stepped into a painting.
2. Pitlochry – Scotland
Second, we have Scotland. Full of history, stunning architectural rooms, and gorgeous estate grounds, Blair Castle is straight out of our dreams. Your guests will gush over your destination wedding for years to come. Ps. our lead planner Fiona and her husband Mac were originally planning on getting married in the ruins on the grounds of Blair Castle! They had to change their plans because of COVID19, but they’ll be visiting the castle in July 2023 to see it in person.
3. Edinburgh – Scotland
Next on our list is also in the beautiful country of Scotland. The Royal College of Physicians Library in Edinburgh is a book lover’s dream come true. Filled with vintage beautiful books and ornate architecture, the intimate space is perfect for both reception and ceremony. In general, this destination wedding location screams Victorian elegance. Bridgerton or Pride & Prejudice inspired wedding anyone?
4. Lake Como – Italy
Fourth, Lake Como is the third largest lake in Italy that is surrounded by charming villages, villas, and picturesque views. No matter which location on Lake Como you choose for your destination wedding, the atmosphere will blow your guests away. Notably, one of our favourite Lake Como venues is Villa Balbiano. You’ll feel like you are in a James Bond movie surrounded by luxury and stunning views.
5. Santorini – Greece
Last but not least, Santorini a classic location for a destination wedding. Your wedding backdrop could be the beautiful white and blue homes or the red or black volcanic sandy beaches. The Mediterranean Sea has been reported to be a source of healing; because of that, your guests will definitely relax and feel the love on your special day. For reference, an excellent venue is the Santorini Gem. This location has magnificent and romantic rooftop views overlooking the Mediterranean.
On a final note, wherever you decide to tie the knot, make sure to have as much fun as you can with your closest family and friends!
