Victoria, British Columbia, with its enchanting landscapes and timeless charm, serves as the perfect backdrop for couples seeking a wedding that effortlessly blends romance, free-spirited vibes, and a touch of bohemian chic. Nat and Paul, who I am so happy to call my friends, chose to get married at Church & State Winery just a short car ride north of Victoria.

They opted for a colour palette inspired by nature, with earthy tones like sage green, grey, dusty brown, and dusty rose complemented by pops of wood and dried floral accents. In case you didn’t know, boho chic tends to incorporate more neutral colours than bohemian styles, but allows for some beautiful pampas grass moments!

Getting Ready

Nat’s morning started offsite, getting her hair and makeup done mid morning. Her flowing, ethereal dress from Shades of White adorned with lace details perfectly captured the bohemian spirit. It gave their photographer Heather some time to get photos of the dress and details, then a dress reveal with the bridesmaids!

Boho Chic Ceremony

Flowers play a pivotal role in boho chic weddings, and Victoria’s thriving floral scene was ready to deliver. Think loose, unstructured bouquets with a mix of wildflowers, succulents, and eucalyptus. Cascading florals can transform any space, adding a touch of untamed elegance that defines the bohemian aesthetic. Nat & Paul chose to do all dried florals from Bespoke Blossoms, so the cascading effect was done with pampas grass and palm fans.

Reception

Of course, they took advantage of the good weather to do their families, wedding party and couples photos outside!

Upon arrival to the reception space after the ceremony, guests were provided a signature drink to start off cocktail hour. It’s nice to do it this way so guests know that the specialty drink is covered by the bride and groom! Don’t ask me what the drink was though haha, I definitely don’t remember what it was, but it was nice and fruity. 🙂

To keep the boho vibes flowing, they incorporated indie/alternative rock music alongside the dance music the DJ played. Church & State Winery had the perfect long tables for a lively atmosphere and for guests to make new friends. The decor followed a minimalist look which made for clean lines and an uncluttered reception room. More room for place settings!
